Violet Newborn is a nationally recognized trauma recovery advocate, artist, and founder of Color Your Story Onto Mine (CYSOM) — a creative faith-based initiative that transforms isolation into connection through social artistry and storytelling. As the 2025 recipient of the Lionel Aldridge Champions Award from NAMI, Violet is being honored for her courageous leadership and innovative healing methods that center the voices of survivors, especially those impacted by childhood sexual abuse, mental health challenges, addiction, and generational trauma.
Known for her disarming presence and radical compassion, Violet has mentored state leaders, facilitated transformative workshops across Tennessee, and inspired thousands to reclaim their truth through art, journaling, and faith. She is often called the “Mother of the Eradication of the Legacy of Child Sexual Abuse” for her disarming spirit and uncompromising commitment to healing generational pain at its root.
Through CYSOM, Violet continues to equip communities with tools for emotional literacy, resilience, and storytelling as activism — proving that even from the deepest wounds, beauty can rise.
