Welcome to "Color Your Story Onto Mine is a transformative nonprofit organization dedicated to healing and empowering women and girls through creative expression and therapeutic support. Our mission is to provide innovative approaches to mental health and wellness, specifically tailored to Black communities, survivors of trauma, and individuals seeking emotional recovery.
Building a Healing Community Through Art and Empowerment
While we have already begun making an impact through our current programs and services—including workshops, support groups, and arts-based healing activities—our long-term vision is to create a sanctuary for healing that expands on these core offerings. With the help of community members, donors, and strategic partners, we will continue to grow and provide access to much-needed resources.
- Creative Healing Workshops: These evidence-based programs focus on emotional literacy, nonviolent communication, and recovery from trauma through art, writing, and movement.
- Re-entry Support for Incarcerated Women: We’re developing a prison curriculum designed to support women transitioning from incarceration back into society, helping them regain confidence and find purpose through creative expression.
- Trauma-Informed Art Programs: Our unique art-based workshops create a safe space for individuals to process trauma, build self-esteem, and connect with others.
We are in the early stages of planning a larger, community-driven vision, which includes establishing:
- A memorial to honor survivors of trauma and violence, offering a peaceful space for reflection and remembrance.
- Therapeutic gardens and outdoor spaces, designed to promote healing and well-being through nature and creative activities.
- A creative studio school where survivors can learn art, life skills, and emotional healing in a supportive environment.
- Collaborations with local zoos and botanical gardens to incorporate therapeutic interactions with animals and nature into our healing programs.
- Partnerships with churches and faith-based organizations to offer spiritual support and emotional recovery.
We are seeking community involvement, donations, and partnerships to bring this vision to life. Your support will help us expand our current programs and lay the foundation for these future projects. With your help, we can continue to provide vital resources to individuals in need and work toward creating a lasting impact on the lives of survivors.

Help Us Build a Memorial to Honor Survivors of Trauma and Violence
At Color Your Story Onto Mine, we believe in the power of healing through remembrance and reflection. We are excited to announce a new project: A Memorial to Honor Survivors of Trauma and Violence, a peaceful sanctuary that will provide a space for reflection, healing, and hope.

- A Community Gathering Space: The memorial will also serve as a space for events, ceremonies, and community gatherings, fostering connection and support among those impacted by trauma.

A Color Your Story Onto Mine Initiative
Funded by the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Center for Transforming Communities
In Partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Center for Transforming Communities
Color Your Story Onto Mine Foundation** proudly introduces Worth the Risk: Youth of North Memphis, an initiative initially launched through a grant from the Center for Transforming Communities (CTC). With additional funding from the Tennessee Arts Commission, we are thrilled to expand the program to include Worth the Risk: Youth of Memphis.
Our mission is to empower at-risk youth and their families through holistic and alternative healing arts practices that address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). By fostering emotional intelligence and literacy through artistic life skills, we aim to provide effective, restorative alternatives that deter crime, senseless homicides, and suicides in our communities.
With generous support from the Tennessee Arts Commission ($5,100) and the Center for Transforming Communities** ($5,000), this initiative transforms the lives of youth in Memphis and North Memphis, helping them unlock their potential and take control of their futures. Through creative expression, mentorship, and life skills development, we are shaping a brighter future for the next generation.
Program Highlights
1. Creative Expression Through Art
Participants will explore various artistic mediums—visual arts, creative writing, and performance—that serve as powerful tools for self-expression and healing. Through art, participants can share their stories, build self-esteem, and process their emotions.
2. Emotional Literacy and Nonviolent Communication
Workshops will equip participants with the skills to identify, understand, and regulate their emotions, fostering healthier relationships and enabling them to navigate challenges with confidence.
3. Life Skills Development
Youth will receive training in essential life skills, such as financial literacy, goal setting, and conflict resolution. These practical tools empower them to manage everyday challenges and work toward long-term success.
4. Mentorship and Community Engagement
Local mentors will guide youth through the program, offering ongoing support. Participants will also engage in community-driven projects, helping to strengthen their connection to the wider Memphis community.
Why "Worth The Risk"?
We believe that personal growth requires taking risks, and for the youth of Memphis, those risks are always worth it. This initiative encourages youth to challenge themselves, confront their fears, and take control of their lives. By offering a supportive environment and equipping them with the tools to succeed, "Worth The Risk" provides a path for youth to rise above their circumstances.
Impact on Memphis and North Memphis Youth
Thanks to the support of the Tennessee Arts Commission** and the Center for Transforming Communities, we are able to offer this life-changing program free of charge to youth in Memphis and North Memphis. "Worth The Risk" helps participants develop resilience, creativity, and leadership skills, preparing them to thrive in their personal lives and their communities.
This initiative is particularly aimed at those who have faced trauma or significant challenges. Through the power of art, mentorship, and skill-building, we are creating a generation of youth who are empowered to create a brighter future for themselves.
Support and Partnership
We invite local businesses, organizations, and individuals to support the "Worth The Risk" initiative through donations, volunteering, or partnerships. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of Memphis youth, providing them with the tools and confidence to succeed.
